It was love at first sight ❤️
Recently, while shopping at Dollar General, a man named Ray spotted something unexpected—something small and lost running down the aisle.
“I saw this little dog running down the aisle,” Ray recalled in a video. “It was kind of funny.” Intrigued, he approached the tiny dog, and the pup immediately warmed up to him. The two waited together as animal control was called, and during that time, the dog curled up to Ray, clearly craving some affection.
However, Ray was later informed that animal control wouldn’t be able to respond that evening. Instead, the authorities asked if he’d be willing to take the pup home temporarily. Without hesitation, Ray agreed to foster the little dog for the night.
Once at Ray’s home, the dog showed her gratitude with eager licks, then nestled into a pile of blankets.
“She crawled up on my shoulder and just sighed,” Ray said. “It was like she was saying, ‘That’s it, I’m done, I’m tired, I’m home.’”
In that moment, Ray understood. The dog had found her place—and it was with him.
“I just thought, ‘Aw, that’s it,’” Ray said, smiling. “‘You’re mine.’”
However, keeping the pup wasn’t immediately possible. Ray had to surrender her to a local shelter for a few weeks while authorities processed her and ensured she didn’t have an owner.
Throughout this waiting period, Ray visited the dog almost every day, eagerly counting the days until he could bring her home for good. Finally, the long-awaited day arrived.
Ray officially adopted the dog and named her Dolly. Now, the two are inseparable.
“I try to take her everywhere I go,” Ray said. “She fits right in.”
