Four Eurasian Lynx have recently taken up residence in a new woodland enclosure at a zoo near Telford. Born two years ago at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, the brothersβ€”Cain, Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Zadkielβ€”are now fully grown and exploring their spacious new habitat.

The Eurasian Lynx, once native to the UK, vanished from the country approximately 1,300 years ago due to factors such as habitat loss, human persecution, and a decrease in their prey population, according to the zoo.

With their fully-grown status, the zoo decided to relocate the lynx siblings to a larger enclosure. Will Dorrell, the zoo’s owner, emphasized the significance of conservation efforts, stating, “Our four lynx brothers are ambassadors for their species and are a stark reminder that if we don’t take conservation seriously, then we will lose some of the world’s most amazing creatures.”

While Eurasian Lynx have been successfully reintroduced to mainland Europe, including countries like France, Germany, and Austria, there are currently no plans to reintroduce the lynx from Hoo Zoo into the wild. However, the zoo aims to further enhance their living space by constructing an expanded woodland habitat for them.
