Kaitlyn Denver Dedicates Dream Date to Helping Animals Displaced by Wildfires
When Kaitlyn Denver learned that she’d be going on a Dodo Dream date with a pup named Lucian, she decided to dedicate the day to helping animals displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires.
“Even though Lucian was not affected by the wildfires, it’s a really good time to adopt because there are a lot of animals being put in the shelters right now,” Kaitlyn shared in a video for The Dodo. “They’re being displaced from their homes, and adopting right now just frees up that space for more animals.”
Lucian and Kaitlyn kicked off their date with some delicious vegetarian treats, as Lucian has a meat allergy. Afterward, they got busy making care packages, with Lucian carefully inspecting everything Kaitlyn sorted through to make sure it met his high standards.
At the time, Lucian had been single for two years, and Kaitlyn learned that he was rescued alongside his mom, adopted, and then returned to the shelter. As they spent more time together, playing a game of keep-away with toys, Kaitlyn couldn’t understand why this incredible pup had been overlooked for so long.
In the middle of their date, Kaitlyn took a break to do some speed dating with other adoptable dogs. She spent time with each one, learning about their unique personalities, before returning to Lucian, who had a special surprise waiting.
“I have a little present for you,” Kaitlyn said, presenting him with his very own care package. “Look at all these cool toys, these are all for you, Lucian!”
After Lucian went through his care package, it was time for some fun—his favorite pastime: bubbles. Lucian chased and played with them, having the time of his life, while Kaitlyn reflected on what a fantastic dog he’d be for a lucky family.
“I think Lucian would be great with a family with kids,” Kaitlyn said. “A family that just wants love because he’s a real lover.”
