Janu the Elephant Turns 20 β And Celebrates in Style! ππ
Last week, Noahβs Ark Zoo Farm marked a very special milestone β Janu the African elephant turned 20 years old!
Born in July 2005 at Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, Janu later moved to Port Lympne before finding his forever home at Noahβs Ark in 2014. Since then, heβs become a much-loved member of the elephant family.
To celebrate the big 2β0, his dedicated keepers crafted a birthday treat fit for a giant β a dustbin-sized ice lolly packed with all of Januβs favourite goodies! Inside the frosty feast? Juicy watermelon, crisp apples, zesty lemon, and crunchy carrots β the perfect snack to enjoy on a warm summerβs day.

Janu lives in Elephant Eden, the largest elephant habitat in the UK, alongside his fellow elephants Shaka, Sutton, and Uli. The expansive space features rolling paddocks, a heated indoor barn, a deep sand yard, and even a swimming pool β offering plenty of room for wallowing, foraging, and play.
As part of the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP), Elephant Eden is specially designed to meet the unique needs of African elephants, particularly males like Janu. This pioneering habitat helps them grow socially, learn from one another, and express natural behaviours β all in a safe, enriching environment.
