πΎ Suffolk Animal Rescue Issues Urgent Plea Amid Kitten Surge
Suffolk Animal Rescue in Stowmarket is calling on cat owners to neuter their pets following a dramatic rise in kittens needing homes β including pregnant kittens and feral litters.
βItβs not just the care, itβs the medication,β said kennel maid Emma Floyd, noting the charity has already taken in around 50 kittens this year.
The rescue, which specializes in taming feral cats, is struggling with limited space and resources. An online wishlist has been launched as supplies vanish quickly amid the growing intake.
The charity also warns of the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) β a serious threat to unneutered cats allowed outdoors.

βPeople who let their female cats out too soon are running a high risk,β Floyd said. βEspecially of them mating with FIV-positive toms.β
FIV weakens a catβs immune system, and while it is manageable, prevention through neutering is the best defense.
Suffolk Animal Rescue urges owners to take advantage of low-cost neutering schemes, and reminds the public that early intervention saves lives β and reduces strain on already overwhelmed shelters.
