“She couldn’t understand where she was or why this was happening.”

Abandoned Husky Finds New Hope and Forever Home After Traumatic Surrender

Early last year, a sweet husky named June, who had spent her entire life with her family, suddenly found herself alone and terrified in a crowded shelter. She trembled in her kennel, confused and heartbroken, unable to understand why her family had left her behind.

“She just looked around and tried to get smaller and smaller,” said Isabella Sance, founder of Stacy Hope Rescue.

Realizing how distressed June was, a volunteer from Stacy Hope Rescue stepped in and decided to foster her, offering her a break from the overwhelming shelter environment. The transformation was immediate. Once with her foster family, June could run freely, stretch her legs, and receive the love and care she desperately needed. She also bonded with her foster’s dog, who helped her come out of her shell and gave her the companionship she craved.

“We were so excited to finally see her put her guard down,” Sance shared. “As soon as she met her foster’s dog, she turned into a completely new dog.”

Sadly, June’s story is all too common. Many people adopt huskies without considering the breed’s high energy levels and specific needs, only to surrender them when they realize they can’t meet those demands. “Huskies are a high-energy breed and demand a lot of time and dedication from their owners,” said Sance. “Unfortunately, not everyone understands that, and that’s why so many of them end up in shelters.”

But June’s journey didn’t end there. After settling in with her foster family, she was adopted by a loving home with two other huskies. Now, June is part of a family that understands her needs, and she’s constantly playing with her new siblings, then cuddling up with them afterward.

Most importantly, June now knows what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cherished.

“She will never be abandoned again,” Sance promised.
