How Designer Anna B. Albury Created a Stylish, Dog-Friendly Home in Brooklyn
Inviting a dog into your life doesnโt mean you have to sacrifice style โ just ask rug designer Anna B. Albury, who transformed her Brooklyn apartment into a vibrant, dog-friendly space that works for the whole family.

Albury welcomed Dodo Digs and Isabel Klee of @simonsits for a tour of her bright and colorful Park Slope one-bedroom rental. The apartment bursts with cheerful painted walls, unique curios on shelves, and bespoke rugs that tie the space together. Alongside her husband Garret, a graphic designer and co-runner of the weekly design newsletter Coolstuff NYC, Albury lived in the apartment for nearly five years before adopting their dog, Margot.
Initially hesitant about welcoming a pup into their textile-filled home, the couple worried their wool rugs wouldnโt hold up. But eight months ago, they adopted Margot, a fluffy white rescue dog from Hearts & Bones Rescue, and have since discovered the durability of wool โ naturally water-repellent and resilient against occasional accidents.

Margot has quickly made the apartment her own, loving the cozy rugs and blankets that help ease her separation anxiety. Sheโs created her own den spaces under furniture in every room, from the living room couch to the bedroom coffee table. Even Margotโs crate is styled โ draped with a striped tablecloth to blend seamlessly with the apartmentโs dรฉcor.
Every detail was thoughtfully designed to keep Margotโs accessories integrated into the homeโs aesthetic. In the kitchen, her toys and food bowl match the walls painted in Benjamin Mooreโs Spring Lilac, adding cohesion to the space.

The home also features plenty of music, thanks to Garretโs guitar and piano skills and a record player that fills the rooms with soothing tunes. Thanks to T-Mobile 5G Home Internet, the couple streams music and videos easily, creating a relaxing atmosphere Margot clearly enjoys.
Opposite Margotโs favorite resting spot is a fireplace mantel showcasing a custom painting by artist Carly Beck โ a charming portrait of Margot at the historic Bemelmanโs Bar in a pink dress, symbolizing her special place in the family.

Though Margot has only been part of the family for a few months, she already holds pride of place in both the apartment and her parentsโ hearts โ proving that a stylish, dog-friendly home is absolutely possible.
