Beach Bum the Golden Retriever Is Ready to Leave His Hard Days Behind
Meet Beach Bum — a golden-hearted Golden Retriever whose early life was anything but golden. Abandoned on the streets of Jonesboro, Georgia, he spent his days surviving on scraps and puddles, his nights curled up on unforgiving pavement. Still, despite the hunger and hardship, Beach Bum never lost his hope — or his love for people.
Locals first noticed the friendly pup wandering into grocery stores, gently seeking both food and affection. Even after being let down by humans, Beach Bum believed someone out there would care.
That someone turned out to be Hounds In Pounds, an animal rescue group who rushed to help after hearing his story.
“We found him eating a slice of pizza in the median of a busy road as cars sped by just inches away,” a Hounds In Pounds representative told The Dodo. “We knew we had to get him off the streets immediately.”
Sweetness in Spite of It All
Today, Beach Bum is safe and receiving medical care at a veterinary clinic. He’s finally warm, well-fed, and most importantly — surrounded by kindness. And despite everything he’s been through, this boy hasn’t lost his joyful spirit.
“He’s pretty perfect, super sweet,” the rescue said. “Right now, he likes eating and belly rubs.”
Beach Bum’s calm, easygoing nature is winning hearts all around. He’s great with other dogs and even cats, and he’s ready to find a family who matches his laid-back vibe.
Looking for a Snack-Loving Soulmate
Once his treatment wraps up, Beach Bum will move into a foster home while he waits for his forever family. His dream adopters? A cozy home with lots of snacks, a comfy couch, and people who enjoy life at a gentler pace.
“He just goes with the flow,” the rescue added. “His ideal family would be people who enjoy a slower pace — and who love to give snacks out. A lot of snacks!”
From fending for scraps on the streets to being pampered with belly rubs and biscuits, Beach Bum’s journey is a beautiful reminder: even after being forgotten, love can still find its way back.
