Two hikers exploring a remote area near Malibu Creek Canyon in California stumbled upon a heart-wrenching sight on a beautiful summer day: a German shepherd peering out from behind a rock, his body restrained with zip ties. Shocked and saddened by the dog’s plight, the hikers knew they had to act quickly to help him.
Despite his distressing circumstances, the abandoned dog displayed nothing but sweetness and gentleness towards his rescuers. It took some time for him to trust them, but once he understood they were there to assist, he relaxed and stayed close to them.
“He’s so friendly,” remarked one of the hikers. They immediately called 911 and managed to remove one of the zip ties before emergency responders arrived. Police and animal control swiftly arrived on scene, freeing the dog from the remaining zip tie and transporting him to safety.
The dog, now named Argon, is currently receiving care at Agoura Animal Care Center. His rescuers are determined to find him a loving home quickly to compensate for the ordeal he endured. They are also committed to seeking justice for whoever subjected him to such cruelty.
“We are grateful for the quick actions of these hikers and law enforcement, but our efforts must continue,” said Fleur Dawes, communications director of In Defense of Animals, in a press release.
