“He is playing with him.” Bear and Boo were inseparable brothers who shared a deep bond. They loved playing together and couldn’t imagine life without each other — until Boo passed away.
Their mother, Talia Rycroft, wasn’t sure if Bear comprehended that Boo was gone. Her own heart was shattered by Boo’s loss, and she closely monitored Bear to ensure he was coping.
After burying Boo in the backyard, Rycroft witnessed something both heartwarming and heartbreaking a few days later. Bear had decided to stay atop Boo’s grave, refusing to leave. He rolled around, visibly content in the company of his brother. While Bear may not have fully grasped Boo’s absence, being near Boo in the yard seemed to comfort him.
“Someone hand me the WHOLE box of tissues, I’m so sad,” Rycroft wrote on TikTok.
The following day, Rycroft observed Bear at Boo’s grave again. This time, it appeared he was attempting to dig it up. Uncertain how to respond, Rycroft received a poignant insight from a TikTok user.
“He is playing with him,” remarked @akosisenyorita. “One last play, perhaps, as the other cat says its final goodbyes.”
Fortunately, Bear didn’t display signs of distress. He simply grieved in his own way, finding solace in knowing Boo was nearby, watching over him and always ready to hang out, albeit in a different manner.
