He finally has a family ❤️
Meet Mr. Jones—a sweet, playful, and young-at-heart 13-year-old dog. Until recently, he called the Humane Society of Greater Miami home.
“He enjoys the outdoors a whole lot,” a shelter volunteer shared in a TikTok video. “[He’s] always laying in the sun [and] rubbing himself in the grass, but he’s definitely a cuddle bug you’d love to have in your home.”
With a description like that, one would think Mr. Jones would have been adopted in no time. But that wasn’t the case.
He arrived at the shelter when he was 9 years old, and day after day, he watched through his little glass window as other dogs found their forever homes—while he remained behind.
Then, one day, it finally happened. Someone took a chance on him. But soon after, they returned him to the shelter.
Mr. Jones was heartbroken.
Three years later, history repeated itself. Another family adopted him—only to bring him back days later.
As the years passed, Mr. Jones grew older and sadder. The shelter did everything they could to find him a home, and he even went viral on social media several times. But still, no luck.
To brighten his spirits, TikTokers Eric and Joey took him on a fun weekend adventure. He picked out new toys, got pampered at the groomers, and visited his favorite place—the beach.
“He loves taking in all the warmth from the sun,” they said in a TikTok.
At the beach, Mr. Jones was like a puppy again, sprinting through the surf with boundless energy. Watching him play, no one would have guessed he was 13 years old.
Eric and Joey were devastated to return him to the shelter, knowing he’d be back in his kennel again. But then, something incredible happened.
Just days later, someone came to adopt Mr. Jones.
After 1,739 days in the shelter, he was finally going home. And this time, it looks like it’s for good.
With his new mom, Mr. Jones gets to do all the things he loves—snuggling, going on walks, and, of course, visiting the beach.
But now, when the fun is over, he doesn’t have to return to the shelter.
He just gets to go to sleep—safe, loved, and ready to do it all over again the next day.
