He has the sweetest little face ๐
A few years ago, Sleepy Pig Farm Animal Sanctuary founder Tiffany Paltauf received a call about a tiny pig rescued from a basement. While she didnโt know many details, it was clear the pig had endured severe neglect.
โWe took him in, and he was in really, really rough shape,โ Paltauf told The Dodo.

The baby pig weighed just 4 or 5 pounds and was riddled with parasites. He had severe mange and had lost most of his hair. Despite his many health issues, Paltauf noticed his spirited, affectionate personality and decided to name him Sparky.

โHe was the sweetest โฆ even when he was so sick,โ Paltauf said.
Thanks to intensive medical care, Sparky slowly began to recover. His hair grew back, revealing a striking black-and-white coat, and he started to gain weight. For his first two years at the sanctuary, Sparky lived indoors alongside another rescued pig, Autumn, sharing the sanctuary founderโs home and even her bed at night.

Now fully healed, Sparky enjoys life outdoors, spending his days basking in the sun with his pig friends on Sleepy Pig Farmโs spacious grounds.
โHe lives outside with all his friends now and is still the friendliest pig we have,โ Paltauf said.

Sparkyโs favorite thing in the world is snuggling. He adores pets from volunteers and loves curling up in Paltaufโs lap. Even though he and Autumn no longer sleep in Paltaufโs bed, the two remain inseparable, cuddling every single night.
โThey still cuddle every single night together,โ Paltauf said.

Itโs hard to believe that just a few years ago, Sparky was barely surviving. Thanks to love, care, and persistence, he is now thriving, healthy, and full of joy.
โSometimes when we take in animals as sick as Sparky, weโre not expecting them to pull through and make it,โ Paltauf said. โBut seeing him now, [heโs] just absolutely thriving.โ
