Last month, Courteney Riches was out enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street when her evening was interrupted by a troubling sight.
High up on one of the street’s tall, decorative lamp posts, a seagull was trapped near the top, ensnared in the intricate piping of the post.
Despite its desperate flapping, the bird had little hope of freeing itself. But then, an unexpected hero appeared.
As Riches watched, a passerby decided to climb the lamp post, risking his own safety to rescue the trapped seagull.
His mission was clear: he was determined to save the bird. The rescue was a success, bringing joy to Riches’ followers on TikTok.
“Genuinely one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen,” one commenter said.
“Absolute legend!!!” another exclaimed.
In the comments, the self-proclaimed “legend” appeared, adding context to the daring rescue. TikTok user ps2filter shared:
“[It] was me. My coworkers and I were a bit tipsy and saw the seagull in need. We decided to give it a shot.”
Fortunately for the bird, their efforts were rewarded.
