A Summer Camping Adventure

Adahn Clarke was enjoying a summer camping trip with her family at Williamson Provincial Campground in Alberta, Canada, when her daughter made a heartfelt wish on a pink rock she had discovered. “She told me that she had wished for a new dog,” Clarke shared.

The Unexpected Visitor

When Clarke, her partner Chris, their daughter, and their dog, Murphy, first arrived at the campgrounds, they encountered a friendly dog wandering nearby. At first, they thought nothing of it, but as the days passed, the dog—whom they named Sunny—began to frequent their campsite.

“She slept under our trailer, on our picnic table, and wherever she pleased,” Clarke noted. Sunny quickly formed a bond with Murphy, playing and sleeping together, which only deepened the family’s affection for her. However, Clarke couldn’t shake the worry that Sunny might have an owner who was missing her.

A Surprise Encounter

Just as Clarke began contemplating how to find Sunny’s owner, a new surprise awaited them. One night, while relaxing by the campfire with Sunny, the dog alerted them to something unusual—a sign of nearby coyotes. Then, at midnight, Sunny dashed under the trailer, and to their astonishment, a fluffy brown and white puppy poked its head out, whining for attention.

Chris crawled under the trailer and scooped up the adorable puppy, and it was an instant connection. “I’ve never seen him fall in love with a dog like that,” Clarke recalled. The puppy nestled into their sweaters, clearly in need of comfort.

A New Family Member

The next morning, as the family woke up to their new reality, Sunny was still outside, and everyone was eager to start the day. With two new dogs now part of their camping adventure, the Clarkes began a mission to find the owners of Sunny and the puppy. They asked fellow campers, posted on social media, and even knocked on doors.

After several days of searching, they finally tracked down the dogs’ previous home and discussed adopting both Sunny and the puppy.

A Dream Come True

When they returned with the puppy, now named Suzie, the emotional moment overwhelmed Clarke’s daughter. “She broke down in tears of joy; I had never seen her so happy,” Clarke said, reflecting on the fulfillment of her daughter’s wish.

A New Beginning

Now, two months later, Sunny and Suzie are adapting to their new lives in a loving home. After numerous vet visits, training sessions, and learning to walk on a leash, the pair is slowly settling in.

“There is so much puppy love to go around now,” Clarke expressed. “You’ll never sit down without a dog in your lap!”
