A Devastating Start to the Holiday Season
Earlier this month, during what was supposed to be the most joyful time of the year, Brooke Capo Comer and her family were instead left devastated.
It all began when their beloved dog, Athena, managed to slip away from home and out of sight.
Desperate Search for Athena
The Comers tried everything to find Athena, but their efforts were in vain. They reached out to their neighbors, hoping for help, but still, there was no sign of her.
In the following days, Athena was spotted several times throughout the community, but she was too frightened and skittish to be caught.
Fearing a Holiday Without Her
With Christmas fast approaching, the family feared they would be spending the holiday without their dog. Their hopes of a reunion seemed to fade.
The Miraculous Return
Then, on Christmas Eve, came a welcome surprise. In the early hours of the morning, the Comer’s doorbell rang.
Sure enough, it was Athena. It wasn’t yet Christmas, but for the Comer family, they had already received the best gift of all.
“Since it was 2:30 AM, I tried to not wake up the kids, but they did wake up from the excitement,” Comer shared with Action News Jax.
