Clyde: The Lovable Pointer with a Curious Mind
Born to Point
Clyde is a vizsla, a breed known for its natural hunting instincts. While heβs never been trained for hunting, his innate tendency to “point” has been with him since he was a puppy.
“It started with butterflies in the yard and random things around the house, like toilet paper rolls,” said his mom, Caitlin. “The instincts are so ingrained in him, he does it without training!”
A Backyard Discovery
The other day, Clyde was outside with his favorite toy when he suddenly froze in placeβhis signature move. This time, his intense focus was on a tiny lizard. His family barely noticed at first because Clyde doing this has become such a normal part of their lives.
“My husband was laughing that this went viral because we see Clyde do this all the time,” Caitlin said. “But people seem to find it fascinating and entertaining!”
A Happy and Active Life
Pointing isnβt just a quirky habitβitβs actually great mental exercise for Clyde.
“Itβs like he goes into a trance when he sees something to point at,” Caitlin said. “And we love it because it really exercises his brain.”
Of course, Clyde also gets plenty of physical exercise.
“Vizslas need a lot of mental stimulation along with a LOT of physical activity,” Caitlin explained. “When heβs pointing or running on the beach, heβs truly in his happy place. Itβs like heβs so in tune with himself and doing what he was made to do.”
For Clyde, every day is an adventureβand every little discovery is worth standing still for. πΆβ¨
