“My son and I were both screaming …”
Stowaway Snake Shocks Mom and Son During Drive β and Keeps Coming Back
Earlier this month, LeAnna Binkley was simply driving her son to baseball practice when an unexpected passenger made a surprise appearance β and nearly caused chaos on the road.
βWe were only on the road for about a mile when my son said, βMom! Look at that snake!ββ Binkley told The Dodo. βHe pointed it out slithering between my windshield wipers. It ducked back under the hood of my car.β

Startled, Binkley pulled over at the baseball field and popped the hood, but there was no sign of the slippery stowaway. Hoping the snake had already slithered off, she left the hood open for the duration of practice β just in case.
βTwo hours passed,β Binkley said. βNo sign of the snake.β
She breathed a sigh of relief β until the drive home.

βOut it pops and looks around!β Binkley recalled. βIt was MUCH bigger and longer than I had imagined.β
Panicking, she pulled over again. A helpful passerby attempted to coax the snake out, but it quickly retreated back into the engine compartment. The journey resumed, and the snake popped up again β giving Binkley and her son a major scare.
βMy son and I were both screaming frantically and swerving all over the road,β she said.

Back at home, Binkley left the hood up overnight in hopes that her scaly passenger would decide to move on. But the next morning, while at work, a coworker alerted her with some unsettling news: the snake was back.

βSure enough, there it was!β Binkley said.
This time, with a small team of colleagues rallying around her, one brave coworker managed to grab the snake and gently relocate him to a safe area away from the car.
βIt hasnβt been seen since!β Binkley said, relieved. βI was so happy the snake was removed.β
Though the snake never meant any harm β likely just seeking warmth or shelter β it certainly gave Binkley and her son a ride they wonβt soon forget.
βThe end of the story is happy,β Binkley said. βEveryone, including the snake, lived to tell about it!β
