“[H]e was so excited to see a dog walking/hopping like him.”

Unstoppable Since Day One

From the moment Ruhn was adopted, he’s been a three-legged powerhouse—running, playing, and digging just like any other dog. His missing leg has never slowed him down, and in fact, most people don’t even notice.

“You would never know he was missing a leg,” said Brittany Ketcham, Ruhn’s mom. “He doesn’t miss a beat! He’s faster than some dogs, and he loves to dig.”

Over the past year, Ruhn has become an incredible foster brother, helping 11 rescue dogs adjust to their new lives. But nothing could have prepared him for the day he met Tricycle.

A Special Connection

Ketcham, who fosters for Mae’s Mutts Rescue, had planned to take a break from fostering—after all, her home was already filled with 12 permanent dogs. But when she saw that one of the incoming rescues was also a tripod, she knew she had to take him in.

Ruhn had never met another dog like him, and when he saw Tricycle for the first time, something just clicked.

“Ruhn loves other dogs, and I think he was so excited to see a dog walking and hopping like him,” Ketcham said. “He immediately started playing with him and trying to get him to run around.”

The Perfect Mentor

At first, Tricycle struggled to adjust to life with three legs. But with Ruhn by his side, he quickly found his rhythm.

“It was cute because he would hop to me, then look back and circle back to Tricycle if he wasn’t moving fast enough,” Ketcham said. “They love playing and running together. Ruhn has even shown him how to dig with one front leg.”

Now, Tricycle is thriving, thanks to his new best friend.

Ruhn has always loved helping other dogs, but meeting another tripod pup made this bond extra special. Through play, patience, and understanding, he’s proving that nothing can hold them back—not even missing a leg.
