“They’re trying to get us to save their friend.”

A Flock of Crows Alerts Homeowners to a Drowning Friend

Last month, a couple in California was enjoying a relaxing afternoon when they were startled by a loud commotion of crows cawing frantically above their house. Stepping into the backyard, they realized the birds weren’t just making noiseβ€”they were calling for help.

In the pool’s overflow reservoir, a crow was struggling to stay afloat. The crows above circled anxiously, refusing to leave their distressed companion behind.

β€œGuys, these birds are going nuts,” Valerie, one of the homeowners, said. β€œTheir friend is in our pool. They’re trying to get us to save him.”

A Swift Rescue

Valerie and her husband rushed into action. While her husband carefully used a rake to lift the waterlogged crow to safety, she tried to reassure the worried birds above.

β€œIt’s okay, buddy. We’re here for you,” she said.

Once safely on dry land, the exhausted crow remained weak, prompting the couple to seek professional rehabilitation.

A Triumphant Return

After receiving the care he needed, the crow regained his strength and was finally ready to return to the wild. On the day of his release, his feathered family gathered nearby, as if celebrating his recovery.

As soon as Valerie opened the cage, the crow took flight, soaring high into the sky, rejoining his waiting friends.

Now, Valerie and her husband remain more attuned to the wildlife around them, ready to listen for nature’s calls for helpβ€”just in case another rescue is ever needed.
