Moo-ving Rescue: Nettie the Cow Saved from Mud in Kent

A cow named Nettie is safe and sound after becoming stuck in thick mud in a field near High Halden, Ashford, last Friday.

The rescue took nearly three and a half hours, according to her owner, farmer Martyn Dean. Nettie had been walking through the field when she suddenly became bogged down and unable to move.

Thankfully, Kent Fire & Rescue Service’s specialist animal rescue team was quick to respond.

β€œOur animal rescue crews weren’t cowed by the challenge,” the fire service joked. β€œWe pulled Nettie safely out with slings.”

Once freed, Nettie was checked by a vet and found to be in good health. She’s now back in her barn, happily munching on hay alongside her calf.

Mr. Dean expressed his gratitude for the team’s efforts:

β€œKent Fire & Rescue were excellent, saving us and Nettie a whole heap of bother. Just another legendairy rescue from KFRS’ animal rescue crew.”
