Moo-ving Rescue: Nettie the Cow Saved from Mud in Kent
A cow named Nettie is safe and sound after becoming stuck in thick mud in a field near High Halden, Ashford, last Friday.
The rescue took nearly three and a half hours, according to her owner, farmer Martyn Dean. Nettie had been walking through the field when she suddenly became bogged down and unable to move.
Thankfully, Kent Fire & Rescue Serviceβs specialist animal rescue team was quick to respond.

βOur animal rescue crews werenβt cowed by the challenge,β the fire service joked. βWe pulled Nettie safely out with slings.β
Once freed, Nettie was checked by a vet and found to be in good health. Sheβs now back in her barn, happily munching on hay alongside her calf.
Mr. Dean expressed his gratitude for the teamβs efforts:
βKent Fire & Rescue were excellent, saving us and Nettie a whole heap of bother. Just another legendairy rescue from KFRSβ animal rescue crew.β
