โShe was very scared at first …”
After returning from a week-long vacation, Kailyn Abell and her fiancรฉ were eager to pick up their cat from the pet sitter and head home. But as they prepared to leave, they were startled by strange noises coming from their car. Confused, they quickly realized something unexpectedโa kitten was trapped somewhere inside the car’s body.
“The cat distribution system has chosen us!” Kailyn exclaimed in a video shared on TikTok, to which her fiancรฉ jokingly responded, โNo, we are not taking this cat home!โ
Soon enough, the kitten poked her tiny head out from the carโs bumper, crying for help yet hesitating to be rescued.
โShe was really scared at first but gentle,โ Abell explained. โWe tried to get her out through the hood, but she was stuck, and we didnโt want to hurt her. She eventually ran off and hid under another car.โ
For the next two hours, the couple tried everything to lure the kitten outโoffering food, mimicking cat soundsโbut nothing worked. It wasnโt until they showed her their own cat, who was in a carrier, that the kitten cautiously emerged and allowed herself to be rescued.
The very next day, they took the kitten to the vet and were relieved to find she was in good health. At just 7 weeks old and weighing less than 2 pounds, she was clean but had a few fleas, which they quickly treated.
Though her fiancรฉ initially resisted the idea, the little kitten, now named Louise, has become a permanent member of their family.
โWe wouldnโt have kept her if she hadnโt been so sweet,โ Kailyn said. โSheโs the nicest cat Iโve ever metโsnuggly, loving, and cheerful. The first night she fell asleep on my chest, and I was completely smitten.โ
Louise quickly bonded with her new cat sister and has settled into her new home, bringing joy to her familyโs lives. Though getting stuck inside a car was a rocky start, it ultimately led her to the perfect home.
โShe has truly brought so much happiness into our lives,โ Abell said.
