โThey were so afraid, they just stayed huddled togetherโ ๐
For over four decades, The Rabbit Haven has been the go-to rescue in California when frightened strangers stumble upon abandoned bunnies. But a recent call stood out from the rest.
A local couple, Ricky and Colette, phoned in with shocking news: they had discovered five tiny lop-eared rabbits huddled together in the middle of a parking lot. The babies appeared to have been left behind with no way to protect themselves.
โThey were so terrified, they just clung to each other,โ The Rabbit Haven shared in a Facebook update. The couple couldnโt bear the thought of the little ones spending another night alone, so they gently gathered them up, brought them home, and contacted the rescue for immediate help.

Soon after, the baby bunnies โ later named Robin, Rhona, Reeses, Roy, and Reayah โ were welcomed into The Rabbit Havenโs care. Staff members were both relieved and heartbroken: relieved that the siblings were now safe, but devastated at the cruelty of their abandonment.
โWhat a heartbreaking scene,โ the rescue wrote. โTo think someone simply pulled off the freeway and left defenseless babies in the blazing sun.โ

While the circumstances of their past remain unknown, the young rabbits are proving to be resilient. With food, safety, and affection, theyโre beginning to flourish. Their personalities are emerging, and theyโve even started learning how to use the litter box.
โTheyโre such sweet little souls,โ staff members shared. โTheyโre just so happy to finally have love and care.โ

Now, the five siblings are ready to take the next step. Cleared for foster placement, theyโre waiting for kind families to open their homes and give them the stability they deserve. Until then, The Rabbit Haven team continues to shower them with the love they were once denied.
โLetโs come together to make sure these babies never feel abandoned again,โ the rescue urged. โThey deserve all the compassion in the world.โ
