An online scam offering Highland cows for sale was exposed when potential buyers showed up at a country park.

Falkirk Council’s Trading Standards revealed that the scammer had used the address and postcode of Muiravonside Country Park to make the fraudulent website seem legitimate. The website was also linked to fake puppy sales.

Michael McGuiness, head of growth, planning, sport, and culture, expressed concern: β€œIt’s alarming to see scammers using Muiravonside Country Park to deceive people. We urge everyone to be cautious when buying online, especially from unfamiliar sites.”

Trading Standards has reported the scam to Nominet, the UK domain name regulator, to get the fraudulent site removed.

Claire Martin, a countryside ranger at Muiravonside, called the scam “disappointing” and clarified, β€œOur cattle are not for sale, but visitors are welcome to see our five lovely Highland cows at the park.”

Trading Standards advises people to verify any website or online business before making significant purchases, such as livestock or pets.
