He was saving a life.
A few months ago, law enforcement officials from the Arizona Department of Public Safety began receiving reports of an individual leaning over the edge of a highway overpass in Tempe. Fearing the person might be contemplating suicide, troopers rushed to the scene to provide assistance.
Upon arrival, they discovered a heartwarming truth.
βWhen troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered the man was not suicidal but was actually trying to help a kitten stranded on a support pillar just below the transition ramp,β wrote the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Troopers halted traffic to assist with the rescue mission. Using a rope and bucket provided by another Good Samaritan, they worked diligently to save the kitten. βAfter a few minutes of sniffing out the situation, the kitten finally hopped into the bucket headfirst,β the department reported. βThe troopers quickly hauled the bucket back up to safety, finding the kitten hungry but seemingly uninjured.β
The successful rescue was celebrated by all involved. While the origins of the kittenβs predicament remained a mystery, her life changed dramatically the moment she was saved. According to a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety:
βThe Good Samaritan who provided the rope and bucket adopted the kitten.β
