Nick Reynolds, the director of Paradise Park wildlife sanctuary in Hayle, Cornwall, shared that a male tawny owl had become trapped in the flue of a chimney at a property near Sennen.
Accompanied by a crew from Penzance Fire Station, Mr. Reynolds responded to the situation on Wednesday and successfully freed the owl, which flew away unharmed.
The owl was covered in soot and required cleaning before its release, as recounted by Mr. Reynolds, who expressed a personal commitment to the rescue effort.
He praised the collaboration with the fire brigade, emphasizing their invaluable assistance in resolving the situation effectively.
In a Facebook post addressing the rescue, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service highlighted the importance of chimney maintenance, humorously noting that unexpected visitors, such as the owl, could become stuck in chimneys if left unchecked.
