He’s lived with her for years now!

A few years ago, during a visit home, Michele M. discovered that her mom had an unexpected new roommate. Though the origins of this new companion remain a mystery, Michele’s mom was instantly charmed.

“My mom says it was love at first sight!” Michele shared.

She named him Robbie, a little wild frog. Michele’s mom has several potted plants in the sunny bay window of her kitchen, and it was here that Robbie made his surprise appearance in 2023.

“We’re not sure how he made it inside, but I think he must have been taking a nap on one of the many plants my mom brings in,” Michele explained.

And since then, Robbie has made himself at home. The plant-filled bay window turned out to be the perfect spot for the tiny frog, where he spends his days munching on insects and other pests that sneak inside.

He’s free to roam the entire house, too. “We live in the humid, swampy south, so there’s always a steady supply of mosquitoes and spiders for him,” Michele said. “The house is old and huge, so he always finds something tasty to snack on.”

Although Michele’s mom could easily evict him, she instead treasures Robbie’s company. And it seems he feels the same:

“My mom says that when she can’t find him, she’ll whistle a little tune, and he’ll appear within minutes,” Michele laughed.

With no outside dangers and an endless buffet of food, Robbie is living the good life. And thanks to him, Michele’s mom is, too.

“The plants are definitely doing better with his natural pest control,” Michele added.

In a way, it’s as though Michele’s mom has found her prince — though she’s more than happy to have him stay a frog.

“She would be heartbroken if anything happened to him,” Michele said. “She loves him like he’s another family member.”
