“She’s so sweet and thankful to be here.”

Lucy, a frightened dog, was abandoned outside a retail equipment store in Oklahoma, left to shiver in the rain with no place to go. Employees at the store reported that she had been wandering the area for about two weeks after someone dumped her there.

Luckily for Lucy, Rachel and her husband, both passionate dog lovers, happened to visit the store that day. Seeing the poor pup trembling on the pavement, Rachel knew her husband wouldn’t be able to leave without taking Lucy home.

β€œI knew as soon as we pulled into the parking lot that he would not leave her there,” Rachel shared in a video for The Dodo.

With the couple’s gentle encouragement, Lucy allowed them to bring her into their car, and as soon as they arrived at their home, the grateful pittie lavished them with affection. β€œWe set her up in our laundry room to help her decompress and relax,” Rachel explained. β€œI don’t think she had ever lived inside a house before.”

The next day, Lucy enjoyed exploring the yard and meeting her new canine companions β€” all 13 of them! β€œShe got to sniff all the other dogs,” Rachel said. β€œThe first dog we introduced her to was Ellie, and it was instant love.”

Lucy joyfully played with her new friends, clearly thrilled to be part of a pack after so much time alone. β€œIt was like she knew she was finally home,” Rachel said.

Meanwhile, Rachel and her husband did everything they could to track down Lucy’s original owners, but their efforts were in vain.

β€œAfter countless flyers, social media posts, and phone calls, we never found her family,” Rachel wrote in a TikTok video.

A month later, it was clear that Lucy had found her forever home. β€œShe’s so sweet and thankful to be here,” Rachel said. β€œI couldn’t imagine taking her away from this life now.”
