It was a cold January evening in Michigan when Matthew and Theresa Lyson, founders of Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary, received an urgent call. A woman named Pam had spotted a group of abandoned ducks near her home, huddled together in the freezing cold.

Without hesitation, the Lysons jumped in their car and rushed to help. When they arrived, they saw the ducks shivering, desperate for warmth. Pam explained that the ducks had been left behind by former homeowners and hadn’t had food or water for at least ten days.

The rescue team worked carefully, using a gentle approach to guide most of the ducks into carriers. A few tried to run, but even they seemed to know it was too cold to resist help. Soon, all thirteen ducks were safe.

That night, the rescued ducks arrived at the sanctuary, where they enjoyed a warm meal and a cozy place to sleep. The Lysons could have ignored the call, but they knew these helpless animals needed them.

Thanks to their kindness, the ducks now have a safe and loving home.
