“[M]ama finally got time to herself.”
On a recent Monday morning, workers at a Houston mechanic shop were greeted with an unexpected sight: a basset hound cowering in the corner. The storms that had battered the area all weekend had driven her to seek refuge in the shop, and she had just given birth to a litter of puppies.
The workers reached out to Caitie Evers of Caitie’s Foster Fam for assistance. When Evers arrived, the mother and her pups were in poor condition—hungry, dirty, and infested with fleas. Thanks to Evers, this would be the last night they spent exposed to the elements. She quickly took them into her home and began making them comfortable.
“Mama girl is the absolute sweetest, and she really worked hard to save her puppies,” Evers shared in a TikTok post.
Evers decided to name the mother Bentley and her pups after various car brands: Rover, Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, Mustang, Lincoln, and Ford. The first order of business was a thorough bath. After their spa treatment, they looked as good as new.
In the following months, Bentley and her puppies thrived. The pups grew more energetic and adorable each day. As the puppies transformed into lively young dogs, Bentley underwent a transformation of her own. Under Evers’ care, she learned to embrace a carefree life, free from the struggle of survival. She began to enjoy the simple pleasures of dog life, such as good food, walks, and playtime.

Three months after their rescue, Bentley and her puppies found their forever homes. Bentley even gained a new basset hound sister. Her life is now a world away from her previous struggles. She is surrounded by loving parents and receives the care she always deserved.
“Now, she spends her days with unlimited love and snuggles,” Evers said.
