We’ve been searching high and low for him for more than two days!

A Day at the Green Turns into a Heartwarming Rescue

Imagine a day at the golf course: lush landscapes, quiet whispers of nature, and friendly competition with friends. For a group of golfers in Garland, Texas, this idyllic scene transformed into a dramatic rescue mission, saving a lost dog’s life.

Stranded by the Creek

Their tranquil afternoon took an unexpected turn when they spotted a stranded pup near Rowlett Creek. Surrounded by water and a steep rock wall, the scared dog had no way of escape. These kindhearted golfers, true Good Samaritans, sprang into action. They immediately contacted Garland Animal Services (GAS), who arrived alongside the Garland Fire Department (GFD).

A Firefighter’s Compassionate Capture

A video posted on the GFD’s Facebook page captured the thrilling rescue. A firefighter waded across the creek, approaching the frightened pup. He gently coaxed the dog, but the scared animal wouldn’t budge. Determined, the firefighter scooped the dog into his arms and carried him safely back to shore.

A Collar with Hope

Thankfully, the rescued dog wore a collar with his name and his owner’s contact information. The team contacted Joan Landry, the dog’s frantic mother, and learned Bubba’s harrowing story.

Days of Desperation

“This is my dog, Bubba!” Landry wrote in a heart-wrenching Facebook comment. “We’ve been looking for him for over two days!!” For those agonizing days, while the GFD and GAS teamed up to save Bubba, an entire community in Sachse, six miles away, was frantically searching for this beloved pup.

A Shocking Reunion

Landry described her desperate search, “I was crying for two days, walking the neighborhood, and neighbors were watching for him, too!” According to Bubba’s family, the sweet dog had escaped his home a few days prior, slipping through an open gate. When the call came from GAS that Bubba was safe, Landry was astonished by his location.

“It’s totally amazing,” she told her local news station, WFAA, in a YouTube video. “I’m shocked. Just the idea that he was in the creek is still puzzling. Did he just jump in and go for a swim because it was a hot day?”

Back Where He Belongs

Despite the mystery of how a water-shy dog ended up by the creek, one thing was crystal clear – Landry couldn’t wait to be reunited with her beloved Bubba. The heartwarming reunion at the animal shelter was filled with joyful barks and happy tears.

Even though a month has passed since the dramatic rescue, Bubba has settled back into his familiar routine with his loving family. What adventures he experienced during his time away remain a mystery, but one thing is certain – Bubba is overjoyed to be back where he belongs, safe and sound in the loving arms of his family.
