“They jumped into action to help this poor pup” ❤️
Strolling along a quiet street in Iowa, a gentle brown and white dog struggled to muster the strength for another step. With no one to care for her, she had become frail and exhausted. Eventually, she collapsed beneath a bush, too weary to continue.
Fortunately, Marshall Neuzil, a young man passing by, spotted the dog nestled under the leaves. Recognizing the urgency, he reached out to his father, Jeremy, a volunteer at It Takes A Village, an animal rescue and support organization, for assistance. “When Marshall called his dad to share the news about the malnourished dog resting in their yard, the family immediately took action,” the rescue group shared in a Facebook post.
The Neuzils quickly brought the dog to the shelter, where she was evaluated and then transferred to Muscatine Veterinary Hospital for emergency treatment. The staff decided that Marshall, who had discovered the dog, should choose her name.
“Marshall picked Luna, a fitting name for this lovely pup, so Luna she became,” the rescue posted at the time. After leaving the hospital, Luna transitioned through several foster homes while rescuers coordinated the best care plan for her. Eventually, Luna found a stable environment with experienced foster caretakers who taught her proper behavior and patience.
“She had to learn self-control and how to manage her impulses,” It Takes A Village noted.
With unwavering commitment, Luna’s foster parents guided her journey over weeks and months.
“Luna has shown herself to be a truly delightful companion through consistent effort and love,” the organization wrote. When Luna finally met her forever family, the connection was undeniable. Surrounded by those who cherish her, Luna can now rest easy, and the rescuers couldn’t be more thankful.
“Thank you, Lori, for recognizing Luna’s true nature,” the rescue expressed.
