NEW YORK — The annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade brought a burst of creativity and cuteness to Manhattan’s East Village on Saturday, as costumed pups strutted their stuff in bow ties, wigs, and sunglasses.

Thousands of spectators gathered along Avenue A to witness an array of dogs showcasing their festive Halloween looks. Among the highlights, a small dog peeked out from an oversized yellow suit jacket, while another, sporting a pompadour, cruised by in a miniature hot rod inspired by the movie “Grease.” Other pups stole the show dressed as hot dogs, and one portrayed Glinda the good witch from The Wizard of Oz.

Now in its 34th year, the beloved parade was initially created to raise funds for the Tompkins Square Park dog run, the city’s first and largest dog park.
