Cinnamon’s Great Escape

A beloved capybara named Cinnamon has sparked a frantic search after escaping from her habitat at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Telford. The incident occurred on Friday when Cinnamon managed to slip out of her enclosure and venture into the woodlands within the zoo grounds.

From Zoo Grounds to Nearby Roads

By Saturday, Cinnamon had made her way beyond the zoo’s perimeter fence and was spotted on a nearby road. Despite intensive efforts and teams working around the clock, there have been no further sightings of Cinnamon since then.

Safety Precautions and Public Advisory

Hoo Zoo believes that Cinnamon is likely still in the vicinity of the zoo, including the surrounding fields and The Humbers area, where food and ponds are plentiful. They have reported the escape to the council in accordance with their licensing conditions.

A zoo spokesperson urged the public not to attempt to capture Cinnamon. While capybaras are generally friendly and inquisitive, the spokesperson warned that Cinnamon could become unpredictable if alarmed or cornered.

How to Help

The zoo requests that anyone who spots Cinnamon between 17:00 and 09:00 BST contact the staff via an out-of-hours number rather than reporting sightings on Facebook, where comments might be overlooked.

The spokesperson added, β€œCinnamon has a fantastic bond with her keepers, and we believe she can be encouraged back to her habitat without physical intervention. We appreciate all of your support in helping us find her and wish us the very best for her safe and swift return.”
