โThey love each other very much and get very worried when they are separatedโ ๐ฅบ
In the heart of rural Kentucky, beneath a heavy downpour, Adonis and Titan, a father-and-son pair of abandoned bully mixes, roamed in search of refuge. With hope dwindling fast, they came across a seemingly inviting house.
The homeowner quickly noticed the pair of desperate dogs huddled at her doorstep. The moment she opened her door to greet them, they eagerly made their way inside.
“These two were discovered in rural Kentucky, starving, frail, and lost, when they sought shelter from the storm in the home of a compassionate woman who welcomed them in,” shared Blind Dog Rescue Alliance (BDRA) on their website.
It didn’t take long for the woman to notice just how deeply the dogs depended on one another.
“Adonis, estimated to be around 9-10 years old, is blind and believed to be Titanโs father,” BDRA shared. “Titan, whoโs about 3 years old, has been doing his best to help his dad survive, staying faithfully by his side.”
Shortly after, a local animal shelter arrived to pick up the dogs. The staff and volunteers immediately fell in love with the inseparable duo. Unfortunately, the shelter didnโt have the capacity to house Adonis and Titan, so BDRA stepped in to help find them a foster home.
Despite their physical challengesโbroken teeth, scars on their legs, and a shared reluctance to let people touch their headsโAdonis and Titan showed signs that they had once been part of a loving family. BDRA was confident they would thrive in foster care, provided they stayed together.
“They have an incredibly strong bond and get very anxious when separated,” BDRA noted. “They often share the same (very large) dog bed. Their connection is unbreakable.”
Fortunately, BDRA found an ideal foster home for the pair. Jennifer Hill, their foster mom, welcomed them with open arms, and the dogs were overjoyed to join her family.
“They take turns cuddling,” Hill shared. “Theyโre so sweet and goofyโthey make me laugh every day! Theyโre just so full of joy.”
While Adonis and Titan stayed as close as ever in their foster home, they soon became comfortable enough with their new surroundings to explore independently.
“Titan used to never let Adonis out of his sight, but heโs more at ease now that they know theyโre safe,” Hill shared. “He can play with a toy outside without constantly checking on Adonis.”
The boys have embraced a new sense of independence now that Adonis can navigate his foster home on his own, yet they still prefer to stay close.
โWhen Titan was sprayed by a skunk a few weeks ago and we had to separate them to bathe Titan, Adonis howled the entire time,โ Hill said. โAnd when Adonis ran outside in a rainstorm to potty last week, Titan stood by the door, anxiously waiting until Adonis returned.โ
It’s clear that Titan will always be there to watch over his dad, and Adonis will remain most at ease with his son by his side. However, now that theyโve experienced the comfort of a loving home, theyโll never have to rely solely on each other for comfort again.
โAdonis and Titan have faced tough times, but they hold no grudges,โ BDRA shared. โThese two are ready to meet someone with experience in bully breeds who appreciates their unique personalities and quirks. Theyโre looking for a home that will embrace their sometimes slobbery but always enthusiastic approach to life!โ
