“For the first few days, he would barely eat” 😔
Meet Max, a charming black and white dog who recently faced an emotional ordeal. Adopted as a puppy eight years ago, Max found himself back at the Pennsylvania SPCA earlier this month due to unforeseen circumstances that forced his family to return him.
Confused and distressed, Max struggled to adjust. He huddled in the corner of his kennel, visibly shaken, and showed little interest in food.
“He cowered and shook in the corner of his kennel,” animal advocate Sarah Brown shared. “For the first few days, he would barely eat.”
Determined to find Max a new home, Brown posted a heartfelt video of him on TikTok. In the video, Brown wrote, “POV: the only family you’ve ever known returns you to the shelter after adopting you as a puppy 8 years ago.” The video quickly went viral, amassing millions of views and drawing a wave of support from viewers who were touched by Max’s story.
The video eventually caught the attention of someone who knew Max from his previous life. Unable to bear seeing him so unhappy, she knew she had to act.
“She was eager to get him back to somewhere he felt safe,” noted the Pennsylvania SPCA in a Facebook post. “Somewhere he felt loved.”
When Max and his former owner were reunited, it was clear that their bond was as strong as ever. “It was a very emotional reunion!” Brown said. “We had only seen Max sad and frightened, but he immediately ran into her lap and turned into his old self.”
Now happily settled with his new mom, Max can rest easy knowing he won’t end up in the shelter again.
“It’s so amazing to see him thriving,” Brown added. “We wish this kind of happiness for all of our dogs!”
