A fortunate cat named Archie was saved from a precarious perch at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona last Friday afternoon.
The park shared on social media a post titled “Tree-climbing for the purr-fect panorama!” featuring photos of Archie, a black and white feline, in a somewhat uncomfortable position on a tree branch. The pictures also showed a firefighter scaling a ladder towards the cat.
The park expressed gratitude to their firefighters and first responders who swiftly acted to rescue the adventurous cat from the heights of a ponderosa pine.
Initially, the park sought assistance from the public to locate Archie’s owners. Later that evening, they happily announced that Archie’s owners had been located.
According to a spokesperson for the park who spoke with HuffPost via email, Archie is a male cat approximately 2 years old. He had managed to escape from a residential area near Mather Campground on the South Rim of the park and found himself stuck about 15 feet above ground before the successful rescue mission.
