“He was producing an amusing noise…”

In recent news, a construction worker in Australia was working on a two-story building behind a homeowner’s garden when he spotted a peculiar sight—a pink baby lying in the grass. Curious, he walked over to investigate and heard an unusual sound.

According to Theresa Matthews from Our Haven Wildlife Shelter, he described it as “making a funny noise.”

It turns out, the pink baby was an orphaned kangaroo calling out for its mother, who was nowhere to be found.

Following the construction worker’s outreach, a swift response from Our Haven Wildlife Shelter sent a dedicated volunteer to the scene. With expertise and care, they swiftly relocated the baby kangaroo to the shelter’s sanctuary.

Within the shelter’s comforting confines, a personalized regimen was tailored to meet the kangaroo’s needs.

“After a thorough examination, we confirmed he was unharmed,” Matthews recounted. “He enthusiastically accepted the warm bottle, savoring every drop.”

According to experts, baby kangaroos, commonly referred to as joeys, spend the first six months of their lives nestled inside their mothers’ pouches. During this crucial period, they rely heavily on their mothers for food, warmth, and safety. Being outside the pouch for an extended period puts an orphaned joey at serious risk.

Fortunately for this young kangaroo, rescuers were more than willing to provide the care and attention he needed.

Matthews reports that this joey is currently thriving, and if his progress continues positively, he will eventually be released back into the wild when he reaches independence.

With warmth and nourishment, it’s evident that this determined kangaroo is being given the opportunity he rightfully deserves.

“He’s proving to be quite the resilient little guy,” Matthews remarked.
