“He’s just got the most lovely sensibility. No pun intended.”
Daisy Edgar-Jones and George MacKay were delighted when they learned they would be sharing a special date with a rescue dog ahead of the release of their upcoming movie, Sense and Sensibility.
The elegant setting matched the period-drama theme perfectly, but the real star of the afternoon was Dash, an adorable Pomeranian who immediately won both actors over.
When they saw him for the first time, their reaction was instant.
“Is that even a real dog?” Daisy joked in a video from the date.
Dash was being cared for by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home while waiting for a permanent family.
The tiny Pomeranian has alopecia and only six teeth, but his quirky appearance and affectionate personality quickly charmed both actors.
“If we can vouch for this wee fella,” George said. “I mean, he’s just got the most lovely sensibility. No pun intended.”
Dash spent much of the date happily sitting on Daisy and George’s laps while they answered questions, offered him treats and introduced him to a selection of toys.
The pair imagined what their ideal day with Dash might look like, while Daisy revealed that she has a soft spot for smaller dogs.
“But I have to say, I’m quite fond of this wee fella,” she said.
Dash seemed equally happy with the arrangement, eagerly enjoying his snacks and inspecting every new toy that appeared.
Between cuddles and treats, Daisy and George also talked about working together on Sense and Sensibility and reflected on what Jane Austen’s stories have meant to them over the years.
There was even another four-legged guest involved in the day.
Before Dash arrived, Vienna, one of the canine cast members from Sense and Sensibility, helped prepare a care package for him to take to his future home.
Her contribution was not always especially practical, but she certainly made the preparation more entertaining.
Dash was delighted with the finished gift basket and even patiently allowed Daisy to dress him in a small bandana she discovered inside.
By the end of the date, Daisy, George and Dash had clearly formed an affectionate little trio.
The actors wished him well as he continued his search for a permanent family.
Fortunately, Dash did not have to wait forever.
He has since been adopted and is now enjoying life in his forever home, where he is getting all the love, attention and pampering he deserves.
