“She’s a known offender!”

There is never a boring day at Hounds Hideaway, a pet resort in Arkansas. One of its regular guests, Chloe Joy — also known as CJ — has become famous for causing trouble.

Recently, CJ pulled off her biggest prank yet: she opened the gate to her playroom and helped a group of dogs escape.

CJ has been visiting Hounds Hideaway for about seven years. The rescued treeing walker coonhound is sweet and calm, but she is also very curious and clever — especially when food is nearby.

According to Hounds Hideaway owner Lacey Vance, CJ has a strong nose for snacks and long legs that help her reach places other dogs cannot.

One day, staff members were busy at the front of the building and believed all the dogs were safely inside their playrooms. But CJ smelled food coming from the break room and decided to investigate.

She stood on her back legs, used her nose to open the gate latch, and then led the other dogs out of the room.

A few moments later, staff returned and were surprised to see a group of dogs running around the building.

Luckily, the building was secure, so none of the dogs were able to get outside. Staff quickly gathered them and returned them to the playroom.

They already suspected CJ was responsible, and security camera footage soon proved them right.

“We could not have been less surprised that Chloe Joy was the instigator,” Vance said. “She’s a known offender!”

The escape quickly became one of CJ’s most memorable tricks. Even her owner was not shocked by the news.

“Why is my child always the ringleader?” her owner joked after hearing what happened.

CJ may keep the staff at Hounds Hideaway busy, but they still adore her and enjoy having her around.

“We adore her and the humans who rescued her,” Vance said, “and love being part of her life.”
