“[It] brought a tear to my eye”
On most workdays, Kenzie Trimarco spends hours alone in her delivery truck, driving from one stop to the next with very little conversation. After recently being assigned a new route, she expected the day to feel just like any other — quiet, routine and a little lonely.
Trimarco said most of her interactions while working are brief. Sometimes she gets a quick hello or goodbye from customers who happen to be outside or open the door during a delivery, but much of the day is spent by herself.
Then she pulled up to one house and noticed a black-and-white pit bull mix relaxing in the yard.

The dog, named Juniper, was stretched out in the sun when Trimarco arrived. As she walked toward the home, Trimarco spotted a sign on the fence beside a basket full of tennis balls. When she read the message, it instantly made her smile.
The sign introduced Juniper and explained that she loved people. It invited anyone who had time to throw a ball for her to fetch.
Trimarco didn’t need to be asked twice. She picked up a tennis ball and tossed it into the yard, hoping Juniper would jump up and chase it. At first, the sleepy dog only lifted her head and watched the ball go by.
But Trimarco wasn’t ready to give up. She tried again, then again. By the third throw, Juniper finally decided it was playtime.
The older pup got up and ran after the ball, her tail wagging happily as she chased it across the yard. For Trimarco, the simple moment meant more than she expected.

What had started as another quiet shift suddenly felt warm and joyful. Playing with Juniper gave her a sweet break from the loneliness of the route, and the interaction was so touching that it brought tears to her eyes.
Trimarco couldn’t stay long because she still had deliveries to finish, so she eventually said goodbye and returned to her truck. Later, she shared a video of the moment online and learned that Juniper was already well loved by many people in the neighborhood.

Juniper’s owner had put up the sign not only to give the dog more chances to meet people, but also to show others how friendly dogs like her can be. Thanks to that little note and basket of tennis balls, Juniper has made plenty of friends.
Trimarco hasn’t returned to Juniper’s street since that day, but she hopes she gets the chance soon. Until then, she’ll remember the sweet sunbathing dog who turned an ordinary delivery stop into the best part of her day.
