[She’s] the friendliest dog on my route
FedEx driver Jezzy Vi says one of the best parts of his route is meeting customers’ pets, but there is one dog he saves special excitement for every time.
During a recent shift, Vi shared in a TikTok that he was heading to visit his favorite very good girl.
He first met the sweet white-and-gray border collie mix about a year ago after starting deliveries to a new house on his route. Vi was already used to seeing plenty of dogs during the day, but this one quickly stood out from the rest.
Each time he arrived, she greeted him with a wagging tail and a playful grin. She would walk alongside him to the front door, happily soaking up attention. Then, after just a few visits, she surprised him by jumping up and wrapping him in a hug.
Vi gladly returned the affection, rubbing her head until she was ready to let go. From then on, the pair settled into a routine without ever having to plan it.
Now, every visit follows the same pattern. She walks with him to the door, waits while he sets down the package and takes a photo, and then gives him a hug.
Even though Vi had never officially met her family and did not know her real name, he started calling her Bud. Over time, Bud became the highlight of his workday, especially since her house is usually his last stop.
Vi said it is simply nice to have that moment to look forward to at the end of the day.
On his latest visit, after enjoying a few more hugs from Bud, Vi headed back to his truck and tossed her some of her favorite treats before driving away smiling.
Even after so many hugs over the past year, he said each one still feels just as special as the first. And while he knows he will meet plenty of adorable dogs on future routes, it is Bud he looks forward to most.
To Vi, she is the friendliest dog anywhere on his route.
