Let’s find this sweet girl a home!

At Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach, a sweet dog named Roxy has developed an adorable way of welcoming visitors.

Every time someone walks past her kennel, Roxy proudly picks up one of her beloved stuffed toys and offers it through the bars โ€” almost as if sheโ€™s presenting a gift.

A Sweet Gesture That Wins Hearts

Roxy absolutely loves her plush toys. Theyโ€™re her prized possessions, and sheโ€™s always eager to show them off to anyone who stops by.

Staff members say the toy presentation is her way of asking for attention.

But once someone actually spends time with her, the toys quickly lose their importance.

โ€œShe does the thing with the toys to get attention,โ€ explained marketing associate Mara Gleason. โ€œBut once sheโ€™s one-on-one with a person, all she wants is the person.โ€

Roxy would much rather enjoy belly rubs, back scratches and quality time with people.

A Favorite Among Shelter Staff

Although visitors havenโ€™t shown much interest in adopting her yet, Roxy has become a favorite among the shelter team.

Everyone who works with her quickly falls in love with her friendly personality and affectionate nature.

Part of the reason she may be overlooked is because she resembles many other dogs at the shelter โ€” larger pups who appear to be bully-breed mixes. Sadly, dogs like Roxy are often passed over despite being incredibly loving companions.

Waiting For The Right Family

Before arriving at Peggy Adams, Roxy lived at one of the shelterโ€™s partner animal control facilities in rural Florida. Unfortunately, little is known about her life before that.

Staff members arenโ€™t sure whether she previously had a home or experienced the comforts every dog deserves.

Now 7 years old, Roxy is part of the shelterโ€™s โ€œGrey Whisker Club,โ€ a program for senior pets. To help older animals find homes, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for them throughout March.

Hoping Someone Will Notice Her

Even though sheโ€™s still waiting for a family, Roxy hasnโ€™t lost her joyful spirit.

She continues greeting everyone with a toy and a wagging tail, hoping that one day the right person will stop โ€” and realize sheโ€™s the perfect companion.

According to the staff who adore her, that lucky person will gain an incredibly loving best friend.

โ€œShe is just so sweet with everybody she meets,โ€ Gleason said. โ€œSheโ€™s going to be a great companion.โ€ ๐Ÿพ
