When Leo was just six months old, he started doing something unusual — he began blepping. That’s when the tip of a cat’s tongue lazily hangs out of its mouth.

Nearly two years later, Leo hasn’t stopped.

A Quirky Trait That Sparked Concern

At first, his owners, Reddit user Head_Resolve_9787 and her family, wondered if something might be wrong. Could this constant tongue hang be a sign of a health issue?

They took Leo to the vet to be sure.

There are a few reasons a cat might blep — a past injury, a smaller-than-average jaw, or simply a relaxed, chill personality.

“The vet couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason,” Leo’s mom told The Dodo. “It doesn’t cause him any pain or affect his quality of life at all. He’s just a regular kitty with a blep.”

A Blepping Cat Full of Personality

Leo’s blep isn’t just harmless — it’s part of what makes him so unique. Regular checkups have confirmed he’s healthy, happy, and thriving.

“He’s a happy, healthy, thriving cat,” his mom said. “The blep is one of, if not my favorite, traits of his.”

Over time, the exact amount of tongue that peeks out has varied, but if you look closely, he’s never not blepping.

A Tiny Gesture That Brings Joy

Leo’s blep has become a family favorite. “People love his little blep!” his mom said. “I send lots of pictures to family and friends, and it always makes them smile.”

And as for Leo? He’ll keep blepping on.

“It makes him unique and cuter than he already is! I wouldn’t want it any other way,” his mom said.

Leo proves that sometimes the quirkiest traits are the ones that steal your heart — one tiny tongue peek at a time. 🐾💛
