“She was actively seeking someone to take her home.”

When Maria Yabetta — a devoted bunny rescuer from New Orleans, Louisiana — heard about a rabbit abandoned in Lafreniere Park, she didn’t hesitate for a second. She’s used to finding frightened, skittish bunnies after neglect or abandonment, but this rescue turned out to be a heartwarming surprise.

“What a treat to be greeted with such excitement,” Yabetta shared on TikTok.

Instead of hiding or running away, the little bunny sprinted right toward her rescuer, eager for affection. For over two weeks, the friendly rabbit had reportedly been approaching park visitors, seemingly pleading for someone to help — and at last, Yabetta answered the call.

“Turns out this pretty girl was asking to be rescued for more than 2 weeks,” Yabetta wrote.

Yabetta named the affectionate bunny Clementine, and within moments of meeting her, Clementine was happily accepting nose kisses and gentle pets. It broke Yabetta’s heart to imagine how such a loving, trusting animal could have been left behind.

When Yabetta offered her treats, Clementine barely glanced at them — all she wanted was more attention.

“Bunnies bond with people just like cats or dogs do — it’s just a different kind of bond,” Yabetta explained. “It’s very clear that this bunny, sweet Clementine, had bonded with someone. She was actively looking for a person to love her again.”

Thankfully, Yabetta found Clementine before anything bad could happen. Now, the affectionate rabbit is safe, cozy, and showered with all the love she’d been craving.

Until she finds her forever family, Clementine will stay under Yabetta’s care — though her rescuer is confident that the perfect home is just around the corner.

“She’s going to make an amazing addition to someone’s family,” Yabetta said.
