Last month, a surprise visitor appeared on a family’s balcony in Canada — and while he wore a mask, it was clear he wasn’t there to cause trouble. In fact, he looked like he could barely stay awake.

The family’s cat first caught wind of the intruder, sniffing curiously at the open window. That’s when Reddit user CT-96’s partner glanced outside and spotted him: a raccoon, sprawled out on the balcony, seemingly exhausted from whatever nighttime adventures he’d had.

“He just looked so tired,” CT-96 told The Dodo. “We didn’t have the heart to disturb him.”

Instead of chasing him off, the family let him sleep. The raccoon — quickly nicknamed Chubs — clearly appreciated the hospitality. He stayed all afternoon, napping in peace.

To make him more comfortable during his impromptu stay, CT-96 even set out a pillow and some water.

The next day, Chubs returned — once again curling up for a well-deserved rest in the same cozy spot.

“He seemed to feel safe here,” CT-96 said. “It was honestly adorable.”

Though they didn’t expect Chubs to stick around forever, the couple enjoyed every moment of his visit. Eventually, he moved on — likely in search of new places to nap and explore — but he left behind a lasting impression.

“We already thought raccoons were cute,” CT-96 said. “But after Chubs, we love them even more.”
