Dog Teaches Daily Lessons of Kindness at Preschool in Brazil
At a small-town preschool in Brazil, students are learning more than just the basics of early education. Along with arts and crafts, they receive daily lessons in kindness and love—thanks to a local dog with a heart as big as his tail.
For the past three years, Vitória Vieira, who works in an office across the street from the preschool, has witnessed the daily ritual that has become a highlight of the children’s day.
Every morning, right on cue, the dog appears at the preschool’s gate, knowing it’s time to receive affection from the students. The kids, thrilled by his presence, greet him with petting and cuddles. The routine is so regular that the children eagerly wait for him to arrive, as they experience the pure joy of giving love to the friendly pup.
“He is there every morning at the same time waiting for the children in the yard,” Vieira shared. “He is very well-behaved.”
A Bond Built on Trust
How this heartwarming tradition began is a mystery. It’s easy to imagine that the school staff and students might have initially been cautious about a strange dog outside the gate—or that the dog might have kept his distance from the unfamiliar humans. But somewhere along the way, the dog and the children developed a mutual trust and affection that has turned into a beautiful friendship.
This bond between the students and their furry friend has become an invaluable lesson in kindness, showing the world how simple acts of love and care can create lasting connections.
“The children love it and the dog does, too,” Vieira said.
