She saved his life.
Wildfires continue to rage across the Los Angeles area, causing one of the worst natural disasters on record.
While the full extent of the damage is still being tallied, there are stories of remarkable rescues emerging. One of them involves 16-year-old equestrian Kalyna Fedorowycz, who recently shared her courageous rescue of a horse named Sovereignty from the evacuation zone of the still-burning Palisades Fire.
Although Fedorowycz doesn’t own Sovereignty, she couldnβt stand by when she saw the horse was too skittish to board a trailer for evacuation. Determined to help, Fedorowycz made sure Sovereignty didnβt remain stranded in the dangerous area.
For 14 miles, she led and rode Sovereignty down a canyon road, under smoky skies, until they reached safety. Thanks to Fedorowyczβs quick thinking, Sovereignty was able to reunite with his owner.
Online, many praised Fedorowycz for her bravery, with one commenter noting: βSaving one horse may seem small in the face of catastrophe, but your energy, bravery, and the capacity of your heart radiates into the universe! Well done!β
