“He conned us all, even the vet.”

Meet Rambo: The 10-Year-Old Senior Who Fooled Everyone… and Stole Their Hearts

When Rambo and his buddy Diesel arrived at the Humane Society of Monroe County, both dogs were underweight and in need of serious care. Diesel bounced back quickly and was adopted in no time.

Rambo, however, seemed like a very different story.

At 10 years old, Rambo was thought to be an old dog slowing down. He struggled to walk and seemed to need a peaceful, hospice-style home to spend his golden years.

That’s when Morgan, a shelter staffer, stepped up to give him that special care β€” taking Rambo home as a hospice foster.

But guess what?

β€œEvery once in a while we get a dog in that completely deceives us,” the shelter shared on Facebook. β€œThis time it is Rambo… He is a big, fat fibber!”

Turns out, Rambo was faking it all along.

Once comfortable at home, Rambo revealed his true spirit β€” he loves running, chasing toys, and even became a little escape artist. No senior slowing down here!

β€œHe conned us all, even the vet,” said Jackie Monteer, shelter director. β€œHe likes to play ball, run (even if a little wobbly), and hopped a short fence just to prove who he is.”

Now fully adopted, Rambo’s family couldn’t be happier with their lively, lovable β€œbig fibber.”

β€œThe joy this dog brings is immeasurable,” Monteer said. β€œHe loves life, and we love him. We couldn’t be happier for Rambo or more grateful to Morgan for taking this big lovable faker home.”

Rambo reminds us all β€” sometimes a little mischief and a lot of heart can make the best stories.
