Violet, a resilient goldendoodle, has endured unimaginable suffering. When her previous owner surrendered her to Sky Sanctuary Rescue, years of neglect had left her buried beneath a thick, matted coat.
As rescuers gently shaved away the tangled fur, they were horrified by what lay beneath—Violet’s frail, emaciated body. It was evident she had suffered extreme abuse and malnourishment.
“She is so depleted—as a full-sized goldendoodle, she weighs just 12 pounds,” the rescue team shared on Instagram.
Violet required immediate, intensive medical care. A blood transfusion and a feeding tube were administered to give her the nutrients and strength she so desperately needed. Slowly but surely, her rescuers saw a spark return to her tired eyes.
“We witnessed the life come back into her body,” they wrote.
Given the severity of her condition, no one knew what the future held. Could she ever experience the simple joys of being a dog?
Violet, however, proved she was stronger than anyone imagined. Just days after her rescue, she took her first steps.
Eleven days later, she went on her first walk.
Not long after, she played with her first toy.
“With every ounce of regained energy, her personality begins to shine,” her rescuers shared.
Since her rescue, Violet has gained seven pounds and continues to grow stronger every day. Her incredible journey has touched thousands of hearts online, with supporters cheering on her progress.
“My favorite thing about her is that she didn’t let life break her spirit,” one follower commented.
Although Violet’s healing is far from over, she no longer has to face hardship alone. Now, she’s surrounded by warmth, nourishment, and unconditional love.
