When Cake Batter finally found his forever home in 2021, the gentle pittie, who had waited at the Pennsylvania SPCA for eight long months, could hardly believe his luck. Despite his traumatic past as a victim of dogfighting, Cake Batter was known for his warm and friendly demeanor, endearing himself to everyone at the shelter. His adoption was a joyous occasion for the SPCA staff, who had come to cherish “Cakey” deeply.
However, happiness was short-lived. Tragically, Cake Batter’s owner passed away, and he soon found himself back at the shelter. Over a year later, Cake Batter remains at the SPCA, and his once-bright spirit seems to be dimming.
βHeβs still his cheerful self when interacted with and enjoys his outdoor time,β a Pennsylvania SPCA representative shared. βBut he often retreats to the back of his kennel, appearing somewhat disheartened. He still wags his tail and greets you when you kneel down, but heβs aging, and time is not on his side.β
The staff believes Cake Batter could be the perfect companion for the right person. Heβs affectionate and prefers to be the only pet in the household. While he enjoys spending time with older children, he isnβt suited for a home with young kids.
The SPCA team remains hopeful that Cake Batterβs wait for a new home will end soon. βWe all love him dearly,β the representative said. βOur biggest wish is for him to find a loving, safe home where he can be cherished. Cake Batter truly deserves the world.β
